Day 1: Arrive in Tanzania
With Njofu Expedition, you’ll be warmly welcomed at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your hotel in Moshi town or Arusha. Here, you’ll meet your guide for a detailed briefing on your upcoming trek and a thorough equipment check to ensure you have all the essential mountain gear. Any missing items can be rented on this day.

Day 2: Lemosho Glades (2385m) to Big Tree Camp (2780m)
With Njofu Expedition, we will pick you up from your hotel at around 8:00 AM and transfer you to the Lemosho Gate, situated on the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro. After completing the registration process, we will begin our climb, trekking steadily through the lush forests of the Lemosho Glades to reach Big Tree Camp, where you will spend the night.

Day 3: Big Tree Camp (2780m) to Shira 2 Camp (3900m)
At Njofu Expedition, we ensure every step of your journey is unforgettable. Today, you’ll cover significant ground as you trek across a stunning plateau of grassy moorland and heather, adorned with fascinating volcanic rock formations. The adventure takes you through Shira 1 Camp, where you can often spot Kibo Peak floating serenely on the clouds, before continuing to Shira 2. Along the way, you’ll gain a substantial amount of altitude, with some sections of the trail being fairly steep.
As you approach Shira 2, you’ll have the chance to marvel at the Northern Ice Fields from the mountain’s western side, offering rare and breathtaking views of Kibo. The steady ascent across the Shira Plateau’s moorland is perfect for acclimatization and rewards you with incredible panoramic vistas. With Njofu Expedition, every step is an experience to cherish.

Day 4: Shira 2 Camp (3900m) to Barranco Camp (3960m)
Embark on an unforgettable journey with Njofu Expedition as your trek begins with an ascent offering breathtaking panoramic views. Traverse the upland desert’s unique climate and walk along the lava ridges beneath the stunning glaciers of the Western Breach. Reach the iconic Lava Tower (4640 m), the day’s highest point, and a perfect spot to enjoy your lunch. In the afternoon, descend steeply to our camp nestled at the base of the majestic Great Barranco Valley (3960 m), surrounded by towering cliffs and offering sweeping views of the plains below.

Day 5: Barranco Camp (3960m) to Barafu Camp (4640m)
After a refreshing night’s rest and a hearty breakfast, we at Njofu Expedition begin our journey to Barafu Camp, situated at an altitude of 4,640 meters. The trek takes us across barren scree slopes, with no vegetation in sight, making the climb both challenging and awe-inspiring. The steep ascent is made tougher by the altitude, but the breathtaking experience keeps us motivated. Upon reaching the camp, we enjoy a nourishing meal and spend the afternoon resting to prepare for the demanding night and day ahead. Staying hydrated and warm is crucial at this stage. After an early dinner, we aim to get some sleep as our climb to the summit will commence between 11 PM and midnight.

Day 6: Barafu Camp (4640m) to UHURU PEAK (5895m) & down to Millennium Camp (3790m)
At Njofu Expedition, we embark on this journey around midnight, ascending steeply toward the summit glaciers. Over 4 to 5 hours, we climb scree, gaining remarkable altitude in a short distance. The views are simply spectacular. As the first rays of sunlight touch us, we’ll reach Stella Point (5739m) on the crater rim. Here, we’re surrounded by stunning ice cliffs and breathtaking views of the jagged Mawenzi peak and beyond. From Stella Point, another hour’s hike leads us to the summit—Uhuru Peak (5895m), the highest point in Africa.
Our descent begins by returning to Stella Point, followed by a trek down the scree slopes to Barafu Camp, where we’ll enjoy breakfast. We then continue descending to Millennium Camp for a much-deserved, long rest.

Day 7: Trek Millennium Camp (3790m) to Mweka Gate (1630m)
On the final day of your 7-day Kilimanjaro climb via the Lemosho route with Njofu Expedition, a gentle trek takes us through the enchanting rainforest to Mweka Gate. Here, we complete the park formalities and proudly receive certificates to commemorate your achievement! Our vehicles will then transfer us back to a hotel in Moshi, where you can indulge in a well-deserved hot shower.
